In coming days, Facebook will be removing the messaging feature from its app for the iPhone and Android. This will force its users to download and use the Facebook Messenger app to stay in touch and communicate with their family and friends.
Mobile web, iPad, Windows Phone, Paper, and desktop users can still message or chat with friends using the main Facebook apps or sites like before.
First reported by Techcrunch as “In the next few days, we’re continuing to notify more people that if they want to send and receive Facebook messages, they’ll need to download the Messenger app. As we’ve said, our goal is to focus development efforts on making Messenger the best mobile messaging experience possible and avoid the confusion of having separate Facebook mobile messaging experiences. Messenger is used by more than 200 million people every month, and we’ll keep working to make it an even more engaging way to connect with people.”
Some Facebook users have also received the email notification from the Facebook regarding the same. The email reads, “We wanted to let you know that messages are moving out of the Facebook app to our Messenger app, a free app that’s faster and more reliable for everyday messaging. Messenger also includes: new ways to send photos and videos, voice calls, stickers, group conversations and more”
When you will send message to your friends using the main Facebook app then a pop-up will be opened asking you to download the Facebook messenger app. Facebook has already removed the feature from the Facebook app in some European countries.
Now user need to keep two Facebook apps instead of one i.e. one main Facebook app and other is messenger app. Before this change to come, users can continue to chat on the iPhone or Android version of Facebook by accessing the Messages tab. Facebook messenger app will allows users to send more pictures, videos, audio recordings, group messages, and stickers, which will give its a better messaging experience.
