WhatsApp has launched its payment feature that has witnessed amazing acceptance rate in India. This UPI-based payment feature is hassle-free and doesn’t require multiple steps or needs any digital wallet to send or receive money. WhatsApp has a huge user base in India and currently, WhatsApp has released the beta version of app enabled with payment feature after getting the permission from National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
Currently, the NPCI has given its consent to roll out WhatsApp BHIM UPI beta launch with limited user base of one million and low per transaction limit. Four banks will join the multi-bank BHIM UPI model in phases (in the coming weeks) and full feature product shall be released after the beta test is successful,” NPCI said in a statement.

Sending money is simple, fast and secure. Simply open the chat window of your WhatsApp contact to whom you want to send money. Now upon selecting the ‘attach’ or ‘plus’ icon the payment option will appear. Add the amount to it and authenticate on behalf of UPI PIN.
Experts strongly belief WhatsApp Payments is a powerful feature with lots of potential to transform the digital payment landscape. Their strong user base of 200 million in India will give rise to a sudden increase in the volume of UPI transaction as well it will provide stiff competition Google Tez and Paytm. Full permission will be provided to WhatsApp only when they completely comply with all principles of interoperability on their app.
