Apple’s developer portal has been hacked on Thursday 18 July. An intruder attempted to obtain some personal info from registered developers from developers website, Apple has announced.
“Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website. Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed,” wrote Apple.
Apple remained silent about the downtime for some time. As a result, some developers feared that their apps would get removed from the App Store, since users couldn’t log in to renew their developer accounts. But Apple has clarified that developers facing this problem needn’t worry.
Apple has taken the portal down and promised a complete fixing of its developer systems, including updating the server software and rebuilding the entire database. Apple cleared that any registered developer whose membership was set to expire during this downtime has been granted an extension.
We’ll continue to update this story as we get more information !!
