Apple announced iOS 8 with many new features including big announcements about Mac OS X Yosemite, and a new programming language called Swift. Here we will discuss the most interesting features of iOS 8.

Talking about the compatibility, Apple requires an iPhone 4S or newer and iPad 2 or newer to update to the latest software. The iPad mini, iPad mini 2 tablet and iPod touch 5th generation will work with the new iOS.
Touch ID for Apps
With Touch ID for all in iOS 8 user can unlock any password stored in their keychain by placing their finger on the reader. Users will be able to use the biometric scanning home button instead of pesky passcodes. Apple also assures that the fingerprint data of the users will never be accessed by iOS or other apps.
Battery usage indicator
iOS users usually faces the problem of drainage of battery too fast but in iOS 8 users will get some relief. The iPhone’s settings will allow the users a way to check exactly which apps and functions are draining your battery. The users would be able to uninstall the app which are not been used for a long time to maximize their battery time.
Keyboard
Here the users would be able to create the new keyboards which they can install and use. Users can also select their favorite input method or layout for keyboard. “Extensions” finally bring Swype in iOS 8 which paves the way to new third-party sharing options, photo editing tools, custom actions and notification center widgets.
Health App
Apple introduces the Health App and the developer’s focused HealthKit API in iOS 8. With this, the health and fitness app can share their data with the new Health app and with each other. In case of emergency there’s also an emergency card accessible function from the lock screen of the phone.
HomeKit
With HomeKit feature Apple plans to bring the smart home electronics with its HomeKit framework for connected devices so that users can control everything with ease at their home.
CloudKit
“Now developers can use the full power of iCloud in their apps and enable you to sign in with your Apple ID without sharing your personal information.”
New camera features
In iOS 8, users will get the options of a three-second timer and time-lapse capture for video. The camera also gets focus and exposure controls.
Wi-Fi Calling
In iOS 8 the users will be able to make standard calls over Wi-Fi in their phone. T-Mobile has already confirmed that it will support Wi-Fi calling in iOS 8.
