Yahoo has acquired a mobile messaging start-up Blink that allow its users to send message that self-destruct and manage who sees their messages and for how long.
This acquisition deal just comes after the rival messaging app Snapchat settled with U.S that accused it of cheating consumers by promising that photos sent on its service disappeared forever after a certain period of time.
Blink is a product of Meh Labs, a company founded by Kevin Stephens and Michelle Norgan. After the deal, Blink will shut down its app for both the iOS and Android platforms in coming days and all the seven team members of Blink including founders will now be joining Yahoo.
The full text from the Blink website says:
“We’re excited to announce that as of May 13, 2014, Blink is joining Yahoo! We built Blink because we believe everyone should be free to show the same honesty and spontaneity in their online conversations as they can in person. We look forward to the possibilities that will come from bringing the Blink vision to Yahoo.
We can’t begin to express how grateful we are for your support throughout this journey. We hope you stick with us through the next chapter.”
Blink allows users to text, share photos and videos with friends. “We look forward to the possibilities that will come from bringing the Blink vision to Yahoo,” the Blink wrote.
